Day 1 - Arrival & Laguna Grande
The trip starts at 10:30 am at “El Puente del Cuyabeno”, the main access to the Cuyabeno Reserve. We navigate by motorized canoe on the Cuyabeno River for 2.5 hours to Nicky Amazon Lodge, observing wildlife. Upon arrival, we receive a welcome cocktail, rooms are assigned, and we have lunch.
In the afternoon, we visit Laguna Grande, 45 minutes from the lodge, explore vegetation and the ‘Igapó’ ecosystem. Then, we swim and watch the sunset, then continue with a night excursion to see bats and caimans. We return to the lodge for dinner, where the bilingual guide will inform about the next activities.
Day 2 - Visit Seoqueya Community
In the early morning, enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate before we explore the awakening rainforest. We’ll watch birds, monkeys, and perhaps spot pink dolphins by paddle canoe. Then, we’ll return for a nutritious breakfast.
Next, we’ll paddle downriver to visit the Indigenous Siona community, where we’ll learn about their language and customs, sample tropical fruits, and help make “cassava,” a traditional manioc bread. After lunch, we can browse beautiful handicrafts made by the Siona women, supporting their families.
In the afternoon, we’ll take a walk through the rainforest, observing butterflies, frogs, and birds while learning about the diverse flora. As evening falls, we’ll witness the emergence of nocturnal life, adding to the sounds of the rainforest. Dinner awaits us back at the lodge.
Day 3 - Paddling & Return to Quito

After breakfast, you’ll have time to pack your luggage for the return trip, with check-out at 8:30 AM.
