Already the one-way trip with dolphins, monkeys of all kinds, countless birds and and and is hardly to be put into words. Ron has accompanied us over the 5 days as a guide and left us speechless several times, whether hiking around the lodge or excursion by drm boat to different destinations. There were always exciting things to see and hear.
The rest of the team must not be forgotten at all - whether the colleagues in Quito or the colleagues in the camp. Especially the food was always a highlight. All around a great experience with nice people 🥰

I... read more was staying in Quito, at Secret Garden (they organise trips to Nicky Lodge directly from the hostel) and I left on the 21st at about 11pm with an organised bus. It was just me and another solo traveller I met at the hostel. The road to the amazons is pretty windy and rough so if you get car sick I recommend to bring tablets. At Nicky lodge everyone was so welcoming, the food is incredible, the chef Freddie is a complete star and he always made sure we had the right amount of protein, vegetables, fruit, carbs. His meals were very varied and healthy. Our guide Evi was so knowledgable and professional, he taught us a lot about the amazons wildlife and vegetation and we spotted incredible animals, insects, plants. All the staff at Nicky Lodge is amazing and they will definitely make sure you have the best time in Cuyabeno. Highly recommended!!

On the way at back me and another guest took the public bus. The lodge organised a taxi to take us to Lago Agrio which is supposed to be a dangerous stop but the taxi driver walked us to the bus station to get our tickets and made sure we were safe and sound at the bus station. Everything went smooth and the journey was long but pleasant and very safe!

We saw insects galore including flocks of butterflies, giant tarantula and banana spiders, centipedes, frogs, ants, and many others. We saw and heard so many different types of glorious birds. And the best were the monkeys, the sloth and the Caimans. You cannot of course be guaranteed anything- but the area is so rich I’m sure you will be happy. Also included was an interesting trip to the local community. The lodge was lovely, the food delicious, and the staff all super friendly and helpful. Lastly our guide Evi was amazing- he knew every single bird, fish, insect and animal with interesting facts about them all. He was super friendly and funny and kind.
